New York, 1842
New York City stands at the center of this project, a tribute to a moment when the city began to take on the shape we recognize today. After generations of hardship, fresh water finally reached Manhattan on July 27th, 1842, an arrival met with celebration, cannon fire, and a 34-gun salute, one for each mile the water had traveled. It was a turning point, a sense of arrival, a city stepping forward into its future. That same year, the New York & Harlem Railroad stood as the only railroad in Manhattan, a quiet signal of the movement and commerce that would soon define it. Inside each box rests an original certificate issued in New York in that year, a tangible piece of the era itself. Together, the cigar and the document form a connection to that moment in time, a reflection of the spirit, ambition, and emergence of New York City.
SHAPED BY TIME
The cigar itself has evolved into something striking over time, a lancero that has grown more expressive, not less. It begins with a composed foundation of earth and aged wood, steady and understated, before a fine thread of spice begins to reveal itself. What was once subtle now carries a quiet intensity, with a measured black pepper note that moves through the blend, never overpowering, but always present. There is a richness here that feels deliberate and structured, the profile building with patience, gaining depth rather than softening with age. It is an uncommon trajectory, a cigar that sharpens as it matures, offering a long, focused experience that is both elegant and quietly powerful.
